Of the at least eleven million tons of food thrown away every year in Germany, around 17 percent is produced in the food industry. In order to help companies in the food industry to avoid food waste in their operations, the NRW Ministry of Consumer Protection commissioned the study “LeDaNa – Lebensmittelabfalldaten für mehr Nachhaltigkeit in der Ernährungsbranche” (Food waste data for more sustainability in the food industry). Within the scope of the study, a guideline for the collection, use and data communication of food losses was developed. This guide shows practical options for action for the food industry and can be used by all interested parties.Contact name: NA
