Overview

Around half of the 1.5 million tonnes of waste potatoes already leave the value chain immediately after harvesting. The reason for this lies in the quality requirements of the food potato trade. In close cooperation with potato farmer Carsten Niemann (Bio Potato North), WWF investigated the trade-related requirements for losses and the impacts on potato farmers and the environment.
