Overview

The Food Loss and Waste Accounting and Reporting Standard (or FLW Standard) is a global voluntary standard that provides requirements and guidance for quantifying and reporting the weight of food and/or associated inedible parts removed from the food supply chain—commonly referred to as “food loss and waste” (FLW). A short Executive Summary summarizes key features of the standard. It lays out definitions for describing “food loss and waste,” the steps to follow when undertaking an FLW inventory, and lists the requirements of the FLW Standard.  The FLW Standard, Guidance on FLW Quantification Methods, case studies, and more are available on www.flwprotocol.org.
