H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark received the “Stræberen” Honorary Award against food waste during the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste

Overview

During the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW), H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark, received the “Stræberen” Honorary Award against food waste. The “Stræberen” Honorary Award is awarded to a person who has excelled in the fight against food waste and was founded by the organization DSK – The Cooperating Merchants Association. H.R.H. Princess Marie is the third recipient of the Award. The first recipient of the Award was the Founder of the Stop Wasting Food movement Selina Juul, in 2018, and the second one was the Area Director at Danish Agriculture & Food Council Klaus Jørgensen, in 2019. Together with the CEO of DSK – The Cooperating Merchants Association John Wagner, the Award recipients have decided to give the Award in 2020 to H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark. During the Award ceremony spoke among others Minister for Food, Fisheries and Equal Opportunities and Minister for Nordic Cooperation of Denmark, Mogens Jensen.

The Stop Wasting Food movement marked the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW), with another exciting news: Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen passes the baton on to the Embassy of France in Copenhagen in the fight against food waste. In 2021, the Embassy of France in Copenhagen plans to host the Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner in collaboration with Stop Wasting Food movement and it’s Founder Selina Juul.

H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark, four Ambassadors, Danish and Swedish CEO’s and decision makers participated in a traditional Dinner with a focus on food waste, which was in 2019 organized by the Ambassador of Sweden to Denmark H.E. Fredrik Jörgensen, the Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen and the Stop Wasting Food movement. By the end of the Dinner, the Ambassador of France to Denmark H.E. Caroline Ferrari announced that the the Embassy of France in Copenhagen together with Selina Juul and the organization Stop Wasting Food movement will host the next Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner, which is planned to be held in 2021 in the Thott Mansion in the heart of Copenhagen.
