Her Royal Highness Princess Marie of Denmark, four Ambassadors, Danish and Swedish CEO’s and decision makers – as well as Champion 12.3 Michael La Cour, Managing Director of IKEA Food Services AB – participated in a traditional Dinner with a focus on food waste, which was this year organized by Ambassador of Sweden to Denmark H.E. Fredrik Jörgensen, the Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen and the Stop Wasting Food movement. Good surplus food was on the menu.
This November, the Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen and the Stop Wasting Food movement hosted a traditional dinner focusing on food waste, the Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner. Ambassador of Sweden to Denmark H.E. Fredrik Jörgensen and Chairman of the Board and Founder of Stop Wasting Food movement Selina Juul in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Copenhagen hosted the Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner this year.
The Dinner is an annual tradition in Denmark, where each year a new embassy co-organizes and co-hosts the Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner together with the Stop Wasting Food movement. The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Denmark H.E. Henk Swarttouw and Founder of the Stop Wasting Food movement Selina Juul in collaboration with Embassy of the Netherlands in Denmark hosted the Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner in 2018
The purpose of the Dinner is to provide inspiration and anchoring for the fight against food waste and to focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 12.3 – to halve the global food losses and food waste by 2030. Invited to these Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinners are Her Royal Highness Princess Marie, members of the Danish and foreign governments, Ambassadors, business leaders, decision-makers and other relevant stakeholders.
This year, Her Royal Highness Princess Marie of Denmark was again participating as a the guest of honor in the Annual International Stop Wasting Food Dinner. Among the Dinner’s 22 guests were four Ambassadors, CEO’s and representatives from the Danish and Swedish food industries and several decision makers – as well as Champion 12.3 Michael La Cour, Managing Director of IKEA Food Services AB.
The year, The Dinner’s menu was made from surplus food prepared by the world-known Swedish top chef Erik Andersson from the Spill restaurant in Malmö, which has a major focus on food waste. The Danish celebrity chef Timm Vladimir provided sustainable canapés made from surplus raw materials from TorvehallerneKBH. The food for the Dinner itself were surplus raw materials provided by the restaurant Spill in Malmö.
