Overview

Sale of ugly vegetables is launched in Denmark: Ugly and bendy and natural looking cucumbers, tomatoes and other imperfect vegetables are now being sold in Danish supermarkets! The national collaboration is powered by the Stop Wasting Food movement (Stop Spild Af Mad), REMA 1000 Denmark retail chain and Danish biggest farmers Alfred Pedersen & Søn ApS and Gartneriet Østervang Sjælland. The ugly vegetables are being sold in selected REMA 1000 supermarkets, they are 15% cheaper than the “normal” vegetables and at the same time the initiative supports the Stop Wasting Food movement. The initiative has received a lot of media attention – read about the initiative in one of Denmark’s biggest national newspapers B.T in the link below.
